Hotels reservations work in funny ways.
Sometimes, a direct call to the hotel does wonders. The folks behind the desk offer you the best deals, steer you toward the primo rooms and get your visit off to a great start.
At other lodgings, the desk has little to offer smart shoppers. Quite a few don’t even have access to the hotel’s own web site specials (but might match them).
Perhaps the 800 number has the best deals. Or maybe you’ll get lucky on one of the hotel “discount” web sites listed below. Never know until you try.

Of course, don’t forget those AAA and AARP discounts. Many hotels will give you the discount just because you mention them.
